REMEMBERING WHITNEY HOUSTON & BOBBI KRISTINA BROWN
POET DOCTOR & CHURCH ARTS MINISTRY CREATE HEALING SONG
Portland, Oregon and Bloomfield, New Jersey:
The tragic deaths of Whitney Houston at 48 years old, and that of her daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown, at 22 years old, inspired a poet psychiatrist and a church arts ministry
to create a powerfully healing song. In great sadness, Dr. Diane Kaufman, founder of Arts Medicine for Health & Healing, wrote, “To All Hearts That Break,” on hearing Bobbi Kristina Brown was found unconscious, and remembering that Bobbi Kristina’s mother, Whitney Houston, had suffered such a fate, leading to her death. When Bobbi Kristina ultimately died, Dr. Kaufman wanted to honor their love and hoped for reunion. Through a series of miraculous connections with Bet HaShem YHWH Ministries and the song’s audio producer both from New Jersey, and the video producer in Austin Texas, the song, “I’m Here” emerged. The composer songwriter is Jacqueline Anabwani and the vocalists, Pastor Jennifer DeLosAngeles and Pastor Princess Fils-Aime. The tribute video, “I’m Here ~ Remembrance of Love” was created to reach as many people as possible. Through the arts, we can express truths that need to be expressed, that go beyond mere words.
Dr. Kaufman could hear the song in the poem and its strong message to be shared. “I’m Here” is an emotional outcry for all lives lost, especially those sudden and tragic deaths where violence and drugs have played a role. The broken hearts of those left behind, can be helped to heal by remembering love that was, experiencing love now, and having faith in love’s reunion in the hereafter. But the terrible tragedy of the lives lost and taken away too soon, still must be recognized, felt, and honored. In holding that unbearable pain, we the living can be inspired to create positive change in our own lives and for the people of this world. Those who hear the song, “I’m Here,” have expressed gratitude for its beauty, and for being “inspirational," “absolutely eloquent,” and “so healing.”
Arts Medicine for Health & Healing transforms trauma into creativity. Using the expressive arts for recovery, its founder is Diane Kaufman, MD, a poet, artist, and healing psychiatrist for children and adults. Dr. Kaufman has been honored for her practice of humanism in medicine, presents internationally, and wrote the book, Bird That Wants to Fly, which inspired a children’s opera with narration by the actor, Danny Glover. www.artsmedicineforhealthandhealing.com
